剧情：
《红色羊齿草的故乡》（Where the Red Fern Grows）在美国是由迪士尼发行DＶＤ等影音产品，但是本片其实有点命运多舛，当初原本于1999年就制作拍摄，但后来由于制片公司经营上发生问题，本片就被束之高阁，直到2003年5月才首度在Tribeca影展上推出，影音产品的发行代理权利，则是由美国迪士尼拿下，于2004年推出。《红色羊齿草的故乡》 改编自Wilson Rawls畅销多年的原名小说，过去早在1974年这部小说就曾经被搬上大银幕，该部同名的老电影在台湾的译名却是《风雨夺标》 。新版本的《红色羊齿草的故乡》同样是改编自原本的名著题材。本故事的背景是发生在全世界最棒的浣熊狩猎区──奥沙克山区，主角则是一位十岁的男孩Billy Coleman，他一直渴望能够拥有属于自己的猎犬，经过辛苦的工作，Billy终于如愿以偿，得到了他的一对猎犬－ Old Dan 以及Little Ann，在爷爷和爸爸的帮忙下，他将两只猎犬训练成受狩猎高手，男孩与狗在朝夕相处之下，也培养出坚定不移的深厚情谊。为了赢得当地人举办的浣熊狩猎比赛，Billy和爷爷、爸爸带着狗儿们进入山区，不料爷爷却不慎伤了脚，而且为了抓到决定胜负关键的浣熊，两只狗儿们义无反顾地冲入暴风雪中，担忧狗儿安危的Billy也随后而来，却遇到山区最令人胆寒的山狮，自己也陷入险境，幸好狗儿们及时相救他才能脱险…片中男孩与狗之间的真情颇为动人，观众随着主角Billy 一同经历生命中的欢喜与悲伤，体会生命与成长的课题。本片由Lyman Dayton以及Sam Pillsbury共同执导，同时他们也是本片的编剧。在片中饰演主角男孩的是Joseph Ashton，他的父亲以及爷爷则分别由Dave Matthews和Dabney Coleman担任，母亲则由Renee Faia担任，其他演员还包括有Ned Beatty、Mac Davis、Kris Kristofferson等等，本片的配乐部分则是由Jeff Cardoni所负责。本片曾经在Heartland影展中获得Crystal Heart Award的殊荣。收起

"Where the Red Fern Grows" was originally produced and filmed in 1999, but due to operational issues with the production company, the film was shelved in the United States. The background of this story takes place in the world's best raccoon hunting area - the Oshak Mountains. The protagonist is a ten year old boy named Billy Coleman, who has always longed to have his own hunting dog. After hard work, Billy finally achieved his wish and obtained his two hunting dogs - Old Dan and Little Ann. With the help of his grandfather and father, he trained the two hunting dogs to become skilled hunters. The boy and the dog, through day and night interactions, also developed an unwavering and profound friendship. In order to win the raccoon hunting competition held by the locals, Billy, his grandfather, and father entered the mountainous area with their dogs. Unexpectedly, his grandfather accidentally injured his foot, and in order to catch the raccoon that determined the outcome, the two dogs rushed into the blizzard without hesitation. Billy, who was worried about his dog's safety, also followed suit. However, he encountered the most terrifying mountain lion in the mountainous area and was also in danger. Fortunately, the dogs rescued him in time to escape... The true love between the boy and the dog in the film is quite touching, and the audience experiences the joys and sorrows of life together with the protagonist Billy, experiencing the topics of life and growth. This film is co directed by Lyman Dayton and Sam Pillsbury, who are also the screenwriters of the film.
